Grayson Nye and Brayden Franklin will join the South Carolina men for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Nye will arrive from Tennessee while Franklin arrives from West Virginia.

Nye just finished his sophomore season with the Vols and is originally from North Carolina. He swam to two points at the 2026 SEC Championships as he swam a lifetime best 53.32 in the 100 breast for 23rd, and was slightly faster in prelims with a 53.18. He also was 27th in the 200 breast (1:57.27) and 32nd in the 400 IM (4:05.64).

Nye adds depth to the breaststroke group that featured 100 breast ‘A’ finalist Einar Ágústsson who was 6th in a 51.69 as well as Harvey Freeman who was 22nd in a 52.90 at 2026 SECs.

100 breast: 53.18 200 breast: 1:55.31 (high school)

Franklin arrives after spending his freshman season at West Virginia. He will return to his home state as he is originally from Greenville, SC. He finished his season at the 2026 Big 12 Championships and was 23rd in the 400 IM with a 3:56.37. He was slightly faster in prelims with a 3:55.00. He also swam to a 2:03.27 in the 200 breast and a 1:50.62 in the 200 IM.

Franklin would have been 28th in the 400 IM at 2026 SECs as it took a 3:52.26 to earn a 2nd swim. South Carolina scored one point in the event at 2026 SECs as Ray Prosinski was 24th in a 3:53.61.

400 IM: 3:55.00 200 IM: 1:50.19 200 breast: 2:02.21 (high school)

The South Carolina men finished 11th out of 11 teams at the 2026 SEC Championships with 349 points. Missouri was 10th with 427 points. Pierre Largeron led the team with 52 individual points including a 6th place finish in the 500 free (4:11.88).

The two are the latest transfers to the South Carolina men’s program. Earlier this month, Tyler Bardak, Sam Empey, and Joey Stebbins announced they would join the Gamecocks this upcoming season. Bardak arrives from McKendree, Empey from Auburn, and Stebbins was teammates with Franklin at West Virginia.
