Dozens of popular snacks are part of a major salmonella recall, with a specific ingredient leading to potential contamination concerns and multiple products including popcorn, chips, nuts and more being pulled from grocery store shelves.
The recall stems from a milk powder supplied by California Dairies used in a number of brand name products and snacks, particularly in seasonings. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the potentially tainted powdered milk and buttermilk was voluntarily recalled April 20.
As of Friday, at least a dozen products related to the recall have been impacted, though more could be announced. In most cases, the products were sold at retailers and grocery stores nationwide.
A separate salmonella recall impacting 12 flavorites of the popular chocolate brand Spring & Mulberry was also recently announced by the FDA, but appeared to be linked date supplier. It wasn’t immediately clear if there was any connection to the California Dairies recall.
