Friday, May 8th – Sunday, May 10th Athens, Greece LCM (50m) Live ResultsThe 2026 Acropolis Swim Open kicked off yesterday from Athens, and already we saw two national records bite the dust as swimmers are vying for the opportunity to represent their nation at this year’s European Championships and next year’s World Championships.
We reported how 20-year-old Apostolos Siskos smashed a new Greek standard en route to winning the men’s 200m backstroke.
Siskos fired off a big-time result of 1:54.12 to reap gold and become the #1 swimmer in the world this season.

On the women’s side, former University of Delaware athlete Andromachi Tasakou topped the 100m breaststroke podium, establishing a new national benchmark in the process.
Tasakou touched the wall in a time of 1:08.16, a new lifetime best by well over a second and a half.
Entering this competition, Tasakou’s PB rested at the 1:09.92 registered at the 2024 Greek Championships.
Last night, however, splitting 32.70/35.46, Tasakou obliterated that previous result as she downed the former Greek record of 1:08.39. That previous NR was set by Angeliki Exarchou during the supersuited 2009 World Championships.

Dimitrios Markos was too quick to catch in the men’s 100m free, leading a trio of sub-50-second performers. Markos stopped the clock at 49.33 to get the edge over Filippos Andriadakis, who settled for silver just .09 behind in 49.42. Panagiotis Bolanos rounded out the podium in 49.54. Germany’s Nicole Maier stole the show in the women’s edition of the 100m free, producing a winning result of 54.87. Maier opened in 26.49 and closed in 28.38 to put up the 2nd-best time of her career. The German’s lifetime best remains at the 54.47 logged just last month. Signe Nowak Gudmundsson was the silver medalist last night in 55.29, while Nefeli Bilanakou represented the speediest host country swimmer in 55.86 for the bronze. The men’s 400m IM saw winner Apostolos Papastamos clock a time worthy of booking his ticket to the European Championships. The 25-year-old will have a chance to defend his 2024 title, hitting 4:17.83 for the gold in the sole time of the field under 4:21. Stergios-Marios Bilas cracked a time of 23.21 to top the men’s 50m fly podium. That represented a new meet record and the 7th-fastest performance of the 24-year-old’s career. He managed to hold off France’s Nikita Baez, who turned in a time of 23.43, and Turkish athlete Arda Akkoyun who delivered 23.82 as the bronze medalist. Bilas is the Greek national record in this event, courtesy of the 23.00 PB he established at the 2025 World Championships. He is also the reigning European champion in this event. Bilas now sits just outside the list of top 25 performers in the world on the season. Of note, Ioannis Diamantis hit a mark of 24.00 in the B-Final of the men’s 50m fly to produce a new Greek Junior Record. National record holder Anna Ntountounaki logged a winning effort of 26.18 to qualify for the European Championships in the women’s 50m fly. Behind her was Georgia Damasioti, the 16-year-old who clocked a time of 26.44 to establish a new Junior National Record.
