According to a post on X by Andy Martino of SportsNet New York, the Mets played the Beach Boys’ 1964 No. 1 hit “I Get Around,” a song written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love and produced by Wilson, after the top of the third inning as a tribute to the Beach Boys’ mastermind on June 11, 2025, the day Wilson died. Martino made no mention of “Kokomo,” nor did any of the commenters on his post. A post by Athlon Sports, which covered the team’s nod to Wilson, also made no mention of “Kokomo” being played.
