2026 MALMSTEN SWIM OPEN STOCKHOLM
Thursday, April 9th – Sunday, April 12th Prelims at 9:30am local (3:30am ET)/Finals at 6pm local (Noon ET) Stockholm, Sweden LCM (50m) SwimSwam Preview Meet Central Entries Live Results Day 1 Recap Day 2 Recap Day 3 RecapTwo protesters jumped into the pool on Saturday night at the 2026 Malmsten Swim Open Stockholm, briefly delaying the women’s 50m freestyle final.
The protestors floated over to lane three, where they each laid a sign on top of the water. They did not lift up the signs, making it difficult to make out exactly what they read, but “Rösta nej till fossil,” Swedish for “Vote no to fossil fuels,” was visible, which suggests the pair were climate activists.
About 30 seconds in, a bystander on the pool deck jumped in and snatched both signs, while another person entered the water and guided the protesters to the side of the pool, where they were greeted by security and escorted out of the facility.
It is unclear at this time whether any law enforcement action was taken.
SwimSwam is on site at the meet and has video of the situation unfolding.
