ESPN’s Adam Schefter Shares a New Bears Stadium Update ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has the latest bit of info regarding the journey to find where the next Chicago Bears stadium will be built.

This post on Twitter/X from the long-time NFL insider is an eye-opener:

The Chicago Bears will decide where to build their new stadium in the next few weeks, per league sources.

If Illinois doesn’t pass legislation for Arlington Heights soon, sources believe the Bears are likely to be Indiana bound.

Two proposed sites in Chicago are not considered feasible, per sources; next to Soldier Field for political reasons, and the land known as Michael Reese was evaluated and rejected by the NFL and the Bears.

On the whole, this isn’t an earth-shattering bit of news. After all, Bears President Kevin Warren told reporters last week at the league’s meetings in Arizona when the team would make its decision. Warren said that the team would make its call on a new Bears stadium location during the late-spring, early-summer window. Conveniently enough, that lines up with the end of the state of Illinois’ spring session. Nevertheless, there is some juicy stuff to take away from Schefter’s post.

Bears Stadium Buzz: ESPN NFL Insider Hears Team is “Likely” Indiana-bound

There are two notable things from Adam Schefter’s social media post. Firstly, the sharing of information he has heard from sources indicates that there is a belief that the Bears “are likely to be” Indiana-bound. This is the most definitive statement regarding a Bears stadium move from a sourced league-insider. I’m not sure what to make of it, but it isn’t something I can ignore.

DID YOU SEE THIS SOLDIER FIELD PROPOSAL?

Secondly, I found it notable that Schefter dishes on the Chicago-based locations that fell short. I wish he had expanded on the land next to Soldier Field being a no-go zone due to political reasons, because that explanation seems vague and unconvincing as an argument. It would have also been informative to hear why the former site of the Michael Reese Hospital downtown was rejected by the NFL and the Bears. It seems like it would be newsworthy that the NFL is getting hands on at this stage of things. At a minimum, it deserves more than a mention in a tweet.

BEARS STADIUM PROJECT UPDATES: McCaskey, Warren, Goodell, More

I’ll end this post with a thought that I can’t shake. The Adam Schefter tweet about the Bears stadium update comes off as a final warning shot to the Illinois legislature. Using Schefter as a vehicle to send a message to lawmakers who want to keep the team from moving across state lines to Indiana is what political posturing looks like when NFL teams get involved. What will the result look like in the end? I guess we’ll find out sometime in the late spring or early summer. Stay tuned.
