Iran strikes Dimona, Beersheba and Tel Aviv with heavy missiles ...Egypt

News by : (EGYPT INDEPENDENT) -

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced early Saturday that it had launched the 94th wave of Operation “True Promise IV,” targeting Israeli military and industrial sites deep within occupied Palestinian territories.

This coincided with developments on the ground involving Iranian nuclear facilities, international warnings about the dangers of escalation, and the expansion of tensions to include several Gulf states.

The Iranian armed forces announced that the Revolutionary Guard’s air defenses shot down an F-15I fighter jet, and that US special forces conducted two operations to extract its two pilots from Iranian territory.

The situation escalated after Iran announced that it had hit another US close air support aircraft, which later crashed into the Gulf.

Previously, The New York Times reported that a US aircraft had crashed near the Strait of Hormuz, and that its pilot had been rescued.

The Revolutionary Guard explained in an official statement that its attacks targeted points in Dimona, the Negev, Beersheba, Ramat Gan and Tel Aviv, within what it described as a “continuous deep fire tactic.”

The strikes were carried out using heavy, multi-warhead ballistic missiles, in addition to suicide drones, it noted.

The statement further indicated the use of solid-and liquid-fueled Khorramshahr, Khaibar Shekan, and Emad missiles with multiple guided warheads, asserting that the strikes accurately hit their targets despite what it described as the inability of Israel’s highly advanced, multi-layered air defense systems to intercept them.

It added that the operation was launched under the slogan “Ya Umm al-Banin” (O Mother of the Sons), in honor of the mothers of those killed.

The Revolutionary Guard statement confirmed that the strikes targeted military-industrial centers and locations where Israeli army commanders and units were stationed.

On the ground, media reports indicated widespread fires in southern and central Israel, particularly in Beersheba, where a chemical plant caught fire, in addition to an attack on an industrial complex belonging to the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

Explosions rocked Tel Aviv and its suburbs, triggering a barrage of sirens. Authorities deployed approximately 10 firefighting teams to combat the blazes.

Reports indicated significant damage in cities such as Petah Tikva, Bnei Brak, and Rosh HaAyin, with widespread power outages following damage to the electrical grid.

Projectile hits Bushehr nuclear power plant, worker killed

Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that a worker at the Bushehr nuclear power plant was killed when a projectile landed near the facility, damaging a nearby building.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed it had received reports from Iran regarding the incident, stating that a security guard was killed and a building within the site was damaged.

The IAEA added that no increase in radiation levels had been detected.

This marks the fourth attack targeting the vicinity of the plant since mid-March.

Meanwhile, the Russian company Rosatom is preparing to evacuate more than 200 workers, while maintaining a limited staff to operate the reactor.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani had previously warned that targeting Iranian nuclear facilities could lead to the complete contamination of the Gulf waters, threatening the lives of millions in the region.

The spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s presiding board, Abbas Goudarzi, asserted that the Strait of Hormuz has become a “strategic advantage” for Iran under the current circumstances, emphasizing that the Iranian armed forces control it and will not allow passage without permission.

Conversely, US intelligence reports, cited by Reuters, revealed that Iran does not intend to reopen the strait in the near future, given that it views its control to be its “most important bargaining chip” against the US.
