2026 Rhode Island Interscholastic League State Swimming Championships
March 7, 2026 Providence, R.I. SCY (25 yards) ResultsThere was one repeat champion and one new winner, but both were from the same school at the Rhode Island Interscholastic League State Swimming Championships.
The Barrington High School girls’ team remained on top of the state, claiming its 12th straight title by finishing 144 points ahead of runner-up North Kingstown.
On the boys’ side, Barrington dethroned two-time defending champion Bishop Hendricken, finishing 12 points better. It was the sixth title in school history for Barrington.

Setting the pace for Barrington was sophomore Grace Lunardelli, who won two individual events and was a part of two winning relay teams.
Lunardelli swept the sprint freestyle events, claiming the 50 free in a time of 23.84 and the 100 free in a time of 52.23. She set respective best times of 23.68 and 51.76 at the NSSC Senior Championships this past December.
In the 200 free relay, Lunardelli split 24.91 on the second leg to help Barrington win with a time of 1:39.11. Other team members were Reese Graveline (26.27), Aya Yui (23.96) and Katlyn Xian (23.97).
Lunardelli later anchored to help Barrington win the 400 free relay with a time of 3:40.72. Raina Salahuddin, Graveline, and Molly DiGiacomo were the other team members.
The other multi-event winner was North Kingstown senior Izzie Bouzaid, who claimed the 200 free in a personal best time of 1:54.25 and the 100 back in a time of 58.14.
Other event winners were:
East Providence won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:52.56 behind the team of Laina Fonseca (28.98), Sadie Gagnon (31.30), Lydia Vasconcelos (27.90) and Nadya Thomas (24.38). East Greenwich senior Ingrid Zeller claimed the 200 IM in a personal best time of 2:08.56. Graveline, a junior at Barrington, won the 100 fly in a personal best time of 57.81. North Kingstown freshman Brynn Lamb won the 500 free in a personal best time of 5:17.20. Barrington relied on depth to win the title, finishing atop the podium despite not winning an event. Leading the way was junior Aydin Duru, who finished 2nd in the 50 free (21.48) and helped Barrington finish 2nd in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
There were three individual event winners: Cumberland senior Jarett Zito, Lincoln senior Holden Brown and Blackstone Valley/Central Falls/Pawtucket Co-Op senior Jack Chiappetta.
Committed to Bryant, Zito swept the sprint freestyles, winning the 50 free in a time of 20.86 and the 100 free in a time of 46.14.
Zito was also a part of two winning relay teams for Cumberland.
In the 200 free relay, Zito split 22.88 on the second leg to help Cumberland win with a time of 1:28.37. Other team members were Ryan Kuncz (22.28), Alex Antocci (22.14) and Ethan Libby (21.07).
Zito then anchored to help Cumberland win the 400 free relay in a time of 3:16.81. Other team members were Quinn DeFusco Kuncz and Logan Fitzsimmons.
Brown, who has committed to Georgetown, captured the 200 free in a personal best time of 1:37.99 and the 100 fly in a time of 49.01.
Chiappetta won the 200 IM in a time of 1:50.43 and the 100 breast in a time of 58.31.
Other event winners were:
Bishop Hendricken claimed the 200 medley relay in 1:38.38 behind the team of Rocco Czaja, Liam Kelly, Ben Ranney and Tristan Andrews.
