Rain and storms, some of which could become severe, are making their way into the Chicago area Thursday afternoon and evening.
Much of the region is under a risk for severe weather, with elevated threats expected in areas far south of Chicago.
Parts of Grundy, LaSalle and Will counties are under a “moderate” risk for severe weather. A large part of Cook County and a number of suburban counties are under an “enhanced” risk of severe weather. And the rest of the area is under a slight or marginal risk.
Even if the weather doesn’t turn severe where you live, you’ll likely see some rain or storms.
Already, a ground stop had been issued at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport through at least 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported departures to O’Hare International were “grounded due to thunderstorms.”
