For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
After previously announcing his commitment to USC, Pro Swim Series finalist Ethan Linville has flipped his commitment to Arizona State University and will join the Sun Devils in the fall of 2026.
“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Arizona State University! I would like to thank Coach Herbie and Coach Logan at ASU for giving me this amazing opportunity. Special thanks to Coach Mark, Coach Fecht, and everyone who has supported me along the way. Forks up!!!”
A senior at Clovis North High School in California, Linville has been a member of the varsity swimming and diving team all four years. He also trains year-round with Clovis Swim Club, where he primarily specializes in distance free and fly.
Linville recently competed at the Speedo Sectionals in Oceanside, where he turned in a series of strong performances. He placed 4th in the 1650 free (15:21.85 – SB), 8th in the 1000 free (9:19.02), 9th in the 500 free (4:28.19 – SB), and 19th in the 200 free (1:41.29). He also contested the 100 free (47.78 – SB) and 100 fly (50.77 – PB).
At the 2026 Pro Swim Series (LCM) stop in Austin in January, Linville earned a second swim in two events. He placed 14th in the 1500 free (16:36.34), 16th in the 800 free (8:43.78) and 200 fly (2:10.15), 22nd in the 400 free (4:11.61) and 36th in the 200 free (1:59.01).
Most of Linville’s top times were set last spring. He logged lifetime best times in the 1000 free (9:06.32) and 1650 free (15:19.65) at the 2025 Justin Sectionals. He went on to post a new personal best in the 200 free (1:37.36) at the CIF Central Section D1 Championship and in the 500 free (4:23.62) at the 2025 CIF State Championship in May.

Based on the results from this season’s conference championship, Linville would have landed in the ‘B’ final in the 500 free and would have placed 13th in the 1650 free, putting him in a position to score some points right from the start.
