WEBSTER, N.Y. — People who live in Webster have raised concerns about businesses attaching advertising signs to traffic signs.
Kate wrote to News10NBC saying:
“This has become a huge problem in Webster… What is the county doing about the proliferation of these signs, which are at best a zoning violation, and worse, illegal?”
News10NBC’s Emily Putnam asked the Town of Webster if this is a code violation, and how it’s addressed. The Town says when they receive a complaint about a business sign attached to a road sign, a code enforcement officer visits the site. If the officer determines the sign is unauthorized, the officer contacts the business owner to inform them about the town policy and to request the sign be removed.
If the business owner does not remove the sign after multiple notices, they will receive an appearance ticket.
