It took the Blackhawks 68 seconds to take a 1-0 lead. In the 84 seconds that followed, Vancouver scored twice. The Canucks scored a third goal — on just their seventh shot on net — at 6:32 into the first period. For a team that was down to just one NHL netminder available, this was the absolute worst case scenario. Thankfully, the Canucks suck, too. And the Blackhawks scored the next goal at exactly 12 minutes into the first to cut the lead in half. We all should have bet the over apparently.
The Blackhawks dominated most of the second period, but had nothing to show for it thanks to a couple missed shots and a couple posts. With 42 seconds left, a redirected point shot finally found the mark and the score was tied going to the room after 40 minutes.
Brock Boeser gave the Canucks a 4-3 lead with a power play goal early in the third. Just a bad goal… Arvid Söderblom lofted a rebound across the net face and Boeser was streaking past the back door for a tap-in. An empty net goal with 86 seconds left in regulation from Max Sasson closed the books on Friday night. For good measure, the Canucks scored a second into the empty net.
Star 1: Frank Nazar
Nazar had the only assist on the Blackhawks’ first goal of the night and then scored the tying goal inside the final minute of the second. He had really good jump all night, and it finally paid off. He hadn’t scored a goal since Jan. 30 and hadn’t had a multi-point game since Jan. 29.
GOAL: Frank Nazar is finally on the board as he deflects in a point shot to tie the game! pic.twitter.com/e0Wj1NA83V
— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) March 7, 2026Star 2: Ilya Mikheyev
Mikheyev scored a desperately-needed goal when the Blackhawks were down 3-1 to cut the Canucks’ lead in half. He then picked up a second assist on the game-tying goal late in the second period.

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) March 7, 2026Star 3: Ryan Donato
Donato got the Blackhawks on the board first with a nice individual effort to score his 14th of the season. He looked like a guy who saw an opportunity after the deadline to make a bigger impact and jumped at it. I liked how aggressively he was looking to score.
GOAL: What a move by Ryan Donato to open the scoring early. pic.twitter.com/1dbZ3yGdRf

Connor Bedard was dangerous on almost every shift. He just couldn’t buy a goal. Landon Slaggert was easily the most physical player on the Blackhawks in the first period. He was credited with only one hit, but I would take the over on that because I watched him hit more than that. With only 11 forwards dressed and the more physical vets gone, someone needed to hit somebody. Slaggert also did a nice job on the penalty kill. Thru two periods, Slaggert led the Blackhawks at 5-on-5 with three scoring chances and two high danger chances. Unfortunately, he had the best view of Boeser’s go-ahead power play goal in the third. Late in the third it appeared Slaggert tied the game but the officials ruled he kicked it in. No goal. Spencer Knight was sick, so Söderblom got the start. Caydon Edwards was the EBUG. So the terrible start was especially troubling… Even though the Blackhawks only have 12 forwards on the NHL roster at this point, they opted to scratch Sam Lafferty and roll with seven defensemen, including Ethan Del Mastro. Del Mastro skated a whole 5:38 thru two periods. The Blackhawks got two power plays in the first period. The first one stunk. The second one was killed by Sam Rinzel tripping a guy after 30 seconds of an advantage. Artyom Levshunov remained the second right-side defenseman on the penalty kill (paired with Wyatt Kaiser). Ryan Greene took over centering the top penalty kill with Mikheyev. Slaggert spent time with Teuvo Teräväinen on the second unit.Hence then, the article about blackhawks 3 canucks 6 three stars key takeaways was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
