ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Downtown Rochester will soon be full of bagpipes, Irish dancers, and people decked out in green. The Rochester St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns on Saturday, March 14. The Runnin’ of the Green, a five-mile race, is taking place on the same day.
The parade has been a Rochester tradition since 1977, typically drawing 40,000 to 60,000 people. It begins at 12:30 p.m. at the corner of East Avenue and Alexander Street. From there, the parade continues down East Avenue to the Liberty Pole, turns on Main Street, and ends at the corner of Fitzhugh Street. Here’s the parade map:
The Rochester Academy of Irish Dance, Shannonside Ceili Dancers, Goodwin Academy, and more dance groups will take part in the parade. There will be pipe and drum bands. You can see more parade details here.

Runnin’ of the Green
The 28th annual Runnin’ of the Green is happening the morning of the parade. The five-mile course starts and ends outside the Mercantile on Main, traveling along the Genesee River. It kicks off at 9:30 a.m.

Where to park
Street parking is prohibited on the parade route, but there are plenty of other options. These city garages will be free to park at on parade day: Mortimer Street Garage, Sister Cities Garage, High Falls Garage, Washington Square Garage, South Avenue Garage, Court Street Garage, and East End Garage.
