He co-stars with actress Sandra Hüller and a practical puppet alien named Rocky, operated by five puppeteers who called themselves the 'Rocketeers'. Gosling credited puppeteer James Ortiz with essentially becoming the character. 'Rocky would never do that,' Gosling recalled Ortiz insisting during rehearsals. 'We were like, 'Whoa.'
