CUBS LINEUP — After taking on Team Italy yesterday afternoon, the Cubs are back in the regular Cactus League today with a matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers at their ballpark. And here’s the best news: Not only is Edward Cabrera starting, but this one IS going to be broadcast on Marquee. I’m excited to see him throw again.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
Dylan Carlson, RF Kevin Alcantara, LF Moises Ballesteros, C Chas McCormick, DH Jefferson Rojas, SS James Triantos, 3B Owen Miller, 1B Brett Bateman, CF Scott Kingery, 2BAs for the Cubs lineup, there’s not really too much here to get excited about – though there are two exceptions.
First, while it’s always exciting to see Moises Ballesteros at the plate, I’m even more eager to see what he can do squatting behind it. He’ll be catching a high-octane, relatively unfamiliar starter today in Edward Cabrera, so I’ll give him some grace … but I also can’t wait to see what he can do. There probably won’t be a ton of catching opportunities for him this season, but he might get into more games than we think, especially if Miguel Amaya ends up giving Michael Busch some rest days at first.
And, hey, when’s the last time a team hasn’t had a banged-up catcher in need of rest? Never. So go after it, Ballesteros. Let’s see what you got.
And second, I just can’t take my eyes off Jefferson Rojas and his 1.013 OPS this spring. Top prospect, middle infielder, holding his own in big league camp? That’s awesome. Big year ahead for him and I am savoring every minute of him on the field for now.
