Women’s 50 Backstroke

She started the session off in the women’s 50 backstroke, where she had the fastest start in the field with a 0.55 reaction start.
By the 25, she had dropped back to 3rd, turning in 13.05 to sit about three tenths behind Marrit Steenbergen (12.73) and four hundredths behind Russia’s Aleksandra Kuznetsova (13.01).
She came home with the 2nd fastest split in the field of 13.26 to pass Kuznetsova for 2nd. She was only out split by Steenbergen’s 12.97.
Vanotterdijk took down her previous record of 26.43, which she set at the 2nd stop of the 2025 World Cup in Westmont. She finished 7th in that race, splitting 13.07/13.36.

The women’s 100 IM was Vanotterdijk’s 2nd race of the night, and it was her 2nd silver medal. She swam 56.68 to come in exactly half-a-second behind the Netherlands’ Marrit Steenbergen, who set a new European Record time of 56.18.
Vanotterdijk was out in the lead, splitting 11.42 on the fly leg to sit a little more than two tenths ahead of Taylor Ruck, who split 11.65 for 2nd, and Steenbergen, who swam 11.68 for 3rd.
She dropped back into 2nd after the backstroke leg, swimming 14.13. She was 16.89 on the breaststroke, and she came home in 14.24 to stop the clock in 56.68, twelve hundredths faster than the 56.80 she swam at the European Championships last December.
