Good news from the updated Chicago Bears injury report.
Six players were upgraded on Thursday’s injury report, an encouraging sign after a wave of players were listed with DNP designations in the week’s first installment. These are the most notable upgrades:
Right guard Jonah Jackson (ankle) Running back D’Andre Swift (hip, knee) Left guard Joe Thuney (pectoral) Right tackle Darnell Wright (ankle)Those four players went from not practicing at all on Wednesday to practicing in a limited capacity on Thursday. That breeze you felt might have been the collective exhale of relief from Bears fans who saw three offensive linemen and a 1,000-yard rusher from the 2025 team miss practice on Wednesday, only to return to action on Thursday.

More notes from the Bears injury report…
While four Bears players were upgraded from DNP status, one noteworthy contributor remains sidelined. Running back Kyle Monangai (thumb, toe) missed his second consecutive practice. I’m still holding out hope that this is part of maintenance for Monangai, who had 31 touches in the team’s Week 4 win against the New York Jets. The 30 carries was a new career high for Monangai, who wouldn’t have to work hard to build a case that he deserves extra rest after that one.SO … WHEN WILL CALEB WILLIAMS ACTUALLY RETURN?
I like seeing that linebacker Noah Sewell (Achilles) and defensive lineman Shemar Turner (knee) get upgraded from limited to full participation. When it comes to depth in the front seven, I’m one of those “the more, the merrier” kind of guys. And with Marcus Davenport’s surprising retirement earlier in the week, getting Turner back to fill a depth role would be a welcome sight. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Hanisch-Imagn Images Unfortunately, it’s not all good news from the Bears’ injury report, as linebacker Keyshaun Elliot (quadricep) went from practicing with limitations on Wednesday to not practicing at all on Thursday. Elliott hasn’t played a down on defense, but has been in on 56 percent of the team’s special teams snaps. Chicago’s kick coverage could be better, and I hate the idea of losing a young player to injury when I think he could be a quality contributor in that area.TYSON BAGENT WEIGHS IN ON BEARS-PACKERS RIVALRY
It remains encouraging to see defensive back Cam Lewis (hip) and cornerback Kyler Gordon (calf) designated as full participants on Thursday. It would be neat to see Gordon return against the Packers and give Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen another puzzle piece to play with on Sunday.CHECK OUT THE BN BEARS PODCAST: Apple | Spotify | YouTube
