Everton vs Man Utd Prediction: Can Carrick’s Unbeaten Red Devils Pass Merseyside Test? ...Middle East

News by : (The Analyst) -

Michael Carrick’s 100% start as Manchester United boss ended at West Ham, and now they face a tricky trip to Everton. We look ahead to Monday’s match with our Everton vs Man Utd prediction and preview.

Everton vs Manchester United: The Key Stats

There is not much to choose between these teams, according to the Opta supercomputer. Everton’s 37.1% win probability is only marginally better than United’s 36.6%. Everton have lost five of their last nine Premier League home games (W2 D2), as many as they had in their previous 28 (W12 D11). Manchester United are unbeaten in their last nine top-flight games (W5 D4), their longest run without defeat since a 14-game streak between January and May 2021.

In-form Manchester United take on Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday in a match that could have a big impact on the Premier League’s race for European football.

United have enjoyed a new lease of life since Michael Carrick took charge for the remainder of the season following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, going unbeaten in his five matches at the helm.

They are the only team yet to be defeated in the Premier League this year, with no side claiming more points in 2026 than their 15. That’s put them fourth and firmly in contention for UEFA Champions League qualification.

But after wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham, they were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at relegation-threatened West Ham United last time out.

Having been dumped out of the FA Cup in the third round – just like Everton – United have had plenty of time to rest and recover ahead of their trip to Merseyside.

Nevertheless, it’s not been an entirely quiet time for the club.

Minority owner Jim Ratcliffe caused a storm with his comments about the UK being “colonised” by immigrants. He later apologised that his “choice of language” offended people and has reportedly been reminded of his responsibilities by the Football Association.

Carrick said he was proud of the culture of “equality and diversity and respect” at United as he looked forward to the meeting with David Moyes’ Everton, having played under the Scot briefly when he succeeded Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

“David’s teams are hard to play against, he is such a good manager, the experience he has got, he knows what it takes to have success in this league,” Carrick told a news conference.

“We have had a lot of time to look forward to it. It is going to take a lot. I know it is a new stadium, but historically it has always been tough going to Everton.

“We have things to improve on, but we have a good base and foundation moving forward – a good spirit, and we will draw on pretty much all of that on Monday night.”

Everton, meanwhile, have aspirations of returning to Europe for the first time since 2017-18.

A 2-1 loss at home to Bournemouth in their previous outing ended a four-game unbeaten run, but they went into this weekend just three points adrift of seventh, which will likely secure continental qualification come the end of the season.

The Toffees will need to improve in front of goal if they are to make the most of their opportunity, though. They are averaging just 3.3 shots on target per game in the Premier League this season, which is their second-lowest on record (since 1997-98), after 2017-18 (3.2).

They will be without Jake O’Brien following his red card against Bournemouth, but Seamus Coleman is back in contention for the right-back spot. Jack Grealish (foot) is their only other absentee.

United remain without Patrick Dorgu after the hamstring injury he sustained in the win over Arsenal, while Matthijs de Ligt (back) and Mason Mount (knock) are not expected to return.

Everton vs Manchester United Head-to-Head

Having won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in November, Everton are looking to complete just their second Premier League double over United – their first coming in the 2013-14 season when Moyes was in the Old Trafford dugout.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal in that game and could become the first English player to score in both of Everton’s top-flight meetings with United since Andy King in 1978-79.

Although this will be United’s first trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium, they have more away wins (19) and overall victories (42) against Everton than any team have against another in Premier League history. Carrick will become the third person to play under Moyes and then face him as a coach in the Premier League (after Mikel Arteta and David Unsworth) – only Alex Ferguson has faced more of his former players in the competition (5).

Everton vs Manchester United Prediction

Despite United’s impressive recent form, Everton came out on top in 37.1% of the Opta supercomputer’s simulations.

That is narrowly more than United’s 36.6% success rate in the pre-match projections, while the probability of a draw stands at 26.3%.
