GENESEO, N.Y. — SUNY Geneseo is working to create an electrophysiology research lab on campus with some help from Kodak’s pharmaceuticals unit.

Kodak has given the school $625,000 in funding to buy an automated patch clamp system and other equipment and supplies used in electrophysiology.

The lab, which will be named the Kodak Advanced Electrophysiology Lab (AEPL), will be used to test and validate new regulated pharmaceutical products developed by Kodak or in collaboration with them.

It will be available not only to the campus community, but will also welcome external academic and industry collaborations.

“The Kodak Advanced Electrophysiology Lab (AEPL) at SUNY Geneseo will play an important role in expanding our pharmaceutical business,” said Jim Continenza, Kodak’s executive chairman and CEO, in a press release.  “The lab can enhance our research capabilities to support future product development and give students hands-on experience with Kodak, allowing us to identify and recruit talented individuals to help support future growth.”

A ribbon cutting will be held for the lab on Thursday, April 23 at the Integrated Science Center, where it is located.
