ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Lake effect snow continues Wednesday night into Thursday, with overall minor snowfall amounts. The majority of the area will see a coating to an inch or two. There will be a few areas with up to 4″ of snow, including the higher elevations of the Finger Lakes, northern Wayne County, and south west of Rochester. A few bands of more focused lake snow will likely set up Wednesday night. Roads will become a little snow covered and slick, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen so far this winter! Just take it a little slower if you’re out overnight.
Lake flakes will stick around into Thursday morning, then taper. Any additional accumulation will be minor through Thursday. Thursday will be a chillier day with highs in the lower half of the 20s.
Quiet weather continues into the weekend, with a few flurries early on Saturday, then some limited sunshine and seasonable temperatures. Weather won’t get in the way of any of your Valentine’s Day plans. We’re still watching a storm that will likely track far enough to our south Sunday into Monday, that it will have little to no impact on our weather.
We’re looking at a pattern change into next week, with warmer than average temperatures and a better chance of rain, rather than snow. A brief wintry mix is a possibility Wednesday or Thursday of next week, depending on the exact track of a storm.
