Happy Trade Deadline Day to all who celebrate.

The last few days have robbed me of any sense of sleep, rest, or hope I had left to give. I’ve been checking my phone every few minutes for a new NBA trade, rumor, or anything that might make teams look different by tonight. After today, it’s silence until the offseason—so let me enjoy every single minute and reckless rumor while I can. Join me in the speculation.

Where Will Giannis Antetokounmpo Be on February 6th?

This is the one everyone in the NBA has under a microscope. We know Giannis won’t be on the Bucks forever, but is that trade-deadline long or NBA offseason long?

There are reports flying in every direction. Supposedly, the Bucks already have their eyes on two potential trade partners: the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Minnesota feels like the most serious suitor, and you can see it in the moves they’ve been making. Shedding salary with Mike Conley on a team that already lacks guard depth isn’t subtle, that’s positioning.

Giannis himself has been hot and cold with the messaging. The most recent wrinkle came via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where Antetokounmpo essentially wrote a love letter to the Bucks. And I don’t know about you, but when players zoom out like that, reflecting on their entire journey, speaking in legacy terms, it doesn’t exactly scream I’m here for the long haul.

“What I want deep down in my heart is I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career and win here,” Giannis said. “I’ve known what it is to be an NBA player… I’ve learned how to be a champion. I’ve learned how to be an MVP. I’ve learned how to be a father. I got married in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’ve had my kids here. My father is buried here.”

Powerful. Emotional. Heavy.

But in that same interview, Giannis also said this:

“How many chances do I have left to win a championship? You gotta be more careful and more urgent in every decision you make moving forward… At the end of the day, you gotta look.”

And that is the part that lingers.

It feels like it’s coming. Giannis clearly loves the city, the organization, and what Milwaukee means to him, but he also knows his prime doesn’t last forever. And eventually, urgency beats sentiment.

Will New Orleans Sell HIGH on Zion?

Since entering the NBA in 2019–20, there have only been three seasons in which Zion Williamson has played more than 35 games: 2020–21, 2022–23, and this season. Right now, he’s put together the longest streak of his career—27 straight games suited up for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Statistically, he’s averaging a career low in points, but context matters. This is easily the most talented roster he’s played on, and that naturally eats into his scoring. The Pelicans are loaded with fringe NBA All-Stars and high-level contributors, yet none of that talent has translated into consistent winning. They don’t even own their own pick this year, so tanking was never on the table, which makes the situation even louder.

There are a couple of directions this could go.

The first is the nuclear option: cashing in on Zion. Move him for a massive haul, bring back pieces that actually fit, and stockpile assets for future flexibility. The Chicago Bulls were reportedly interested in Williamson, though that attention has recently shifted elsewhere on the roster. Still, Chicago has picks, and guards, to make a real offer if they choose to pivot back.

The other path is a full reset at the top. A coaching and front-office shakeup has been heavily rumored, mostly because the talent level suggests this team should be better than it is. It’s hard to single out individual players when the issues feel systemic. But when you lose to a Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Milwaukee Bucks, it’s a pretty clear sign that something isn’t working.

Yves Missi: The Most Desirable Pelican?

Almost every name tied to the New Orleans Pelicans, Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, even Herb Jones, doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon. Either the asking price is absurdly high, or there’s just no real interest in breaking up what the Pelicans already have.

Yves Missi, however, might not fall under that same protection.

The Pelicans traded a very valuable first-round pick to move up and draft their franchise center, Derik Queen, just last offseason, and so far, he’s more than justified that decision. He’s shown enough that New Orleans doesn’t have to feel any regret about the price they paid.

Missi is also a young big on the roster, but when Queen plays, his minutes take a hit—and vice versa. They’re simply not the same type of player. Missi, the 6’11, 21-year-old, is an old-school big: rebound the ball, protect the rim, do damage in the paint. Queen, on the other hand, has an offensive bag that feels borderline limitless.Still, Missi has a place in this league—an important one—especially in an NBA that’s starting to flirt again with double-big lineups controlling the game.

That’s exactly why he feels expendable. Teams like the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, and Toronto Raptors have all continued to show interest in Missi, drawn to his athletic tools and what he already brings to the table.

If a Pelican does get traded, Missi feels like the most likely name, and it’s not particularly close.

Also on the Rumor Mill

Jake Fischer reported that the Indiana Pacers and the Chicago Bulls have discussed a Bennedict Mathurin–for–Ayo Dosunmu swap. It doesn’t make a lot of sense for either side, especially the Bulls, who already have more guards than they know what to do with. If Ayo is getting traded, please don’t let it be for yet another guard.

The Pacers and Bulls have discussed an Ayo Dosunmu-for-Bennedict Mathurin swap, per @JakeLFischer “League sources say that there has been some tangible discussion this week between Chicago and Indiana on a possible Dosunmu-for-Bennedict Mathurin swap. Yet it's unclear what… pic.twitter.com/vEom5uIJWI

— NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) February 4, 2026 And for the Indiana Pacers, the need is obvious. They need a big man to eventually replace Myles Turner, lining things up for Tyrese Haliburton’s return next season. This is a team that was just in the NBA Finals, and now their sights are reportedly set on Ivica Zubac of the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers already made a Darius Garland-for-James Harden deal in an effort to get younger, so continuing that trend makes sense. Taking a swing on a younger backcourt built around Bennedict Mathurin and Garland? Honestly, that doesn’t sound too bad at all.

Fischer: Clippers still receiving calls on Ivica Zubac. The Pacers are "prime among his suitors."

— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) February 5, 2026 A Ja Morant trade almost feels inevitable now that the Memphis Grizzlies have moved Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz. That deal made it pretty clear what Memphis was thinking. They weren’t happy with the packages being floated for Morant, so they pivoted, stacking assets instead. Now sitting on seven first-round picks and a handful of intriguing young players, they don’t need a home-run return for Ja anymore. A mediocre package suddenly becomes acceptable when the war chest is already full. At this point, the leverage has shifted. Expect Morant’s name to be one of the loudest—and most likely—moved today.

There is “definitely a chance” Ja Morant is traded before the trade deadline, per @ShamsCharania pic.twitter.com/Kvt19KtzzG
