Two new construction homes are on the market in Altadena’s guard-gated La Viña neighborhood, priced from under $2.3 million.
These two-story residences are part of PLC Communities’ expansion in the foothills development on vacant land bought by the homebuilder. Branded as Encore at La Viña, the project will ultimately include 18 homes.
After being delayed by the Eaton fire before construction began, the project has now gained momentum.
As of Jan. 21, nine homes are complete, and construction on the final nine is scheduled to begin in the spring, with anticipated completion by the end of the year.
The homes featured on the Multiple Listing Service showcase an open-concept floor plan, complemented by a gourmet kitchen with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances and a waterfall island.
One side of the island has a sink, dishwasher and ample storage, while the opposite side offers bar seating.
The 3,705-square-foot house, listed at just under $2.3 million, sits on a 7,273-square-foot lot. Its first-floor primary suite, one of five bedrooms and five bathrooms, boasts a soaking tub and separate walk-in shower with a built-in bench.
Above the kitchen, a loft overlooks the great room, anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace. It features a soaring ceiling and numerous windows that flood the space with natural light.
In contrast, the second home, listed at nearly $2.52 million, spans 4,086 square feet and sits on a slightly smaller lot, at 6,728 square feet.
The house has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. There’s a first-floor ensuite bedroom with an office, while the primary suite with its soaking tub and walk-in shower occupies the second floor.
A walk-in pantry adds to the kitchen.
Both homes come with outdoor space, three-car garages, smart home technology and energy-efficient systems, including fully integrated solar power. They boast views of the Los Angeles basin and back up to San Gabriel Mountains
PLC Communities has also partnered with 24 La Viña property owners to replace homes destroyed in the January 2025 firestorm. As part of its rebuild project, the builder designed six new floorplans tailored to accommodate the variable lot sizes.
“All of those floorplans were 20 years old,” said Jaime Todd, vice president of sales and marketing for PLC Communities. “We modernized their footprint to better align with what we’re doing in Encore.”
He added that the finishes and appointments match those of the new homes, with the options for upgrades available..
Construction is underway.
Todd said that the rebuilt homes will be completed and ready for occupancy by late summer and before Halloween.
La Viña was developed in the early 2000s. Residents of this community have access to a pool, spa, lounge area, barbecue and playground as well as nearby hiking trails.
