During an interview on the program “Min Awal Wa Gadeed” (From the Very Beginning) on the Heya channel, Abdel Nasser explained that internet consumption rises in direct correlation with the advancing quality of modern hardware.
She noted that high-specification smartphones and advanced screens consume significantly more data, which explains why many users have recently found themselves renewing their packages multiple times within a single month.
The Deputy Chair revealed that the Communications Committee is set to examine public demands for the provision of unlimited internet.
She pointed out that while some nations offer uncapped data, others utilize a tiered package system similar to Egypt’s current model. Consequently, the committee intends to coordinate with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to find a resolution.
Abdel Nasser emphasized that the government and the Ministry must view internet access as a vital component of national productivity. She asserted that internet usage is no longer a luxury, as most essential services, education, and professional work are now conducted online.
Concluding her remarks, she stated that the government must either reduce current pricing, increase data quotas, or transition toward an unlimited internet model. “The committee will thoroughly study this matter in the coming period to identify appropriate solutions,” she added.
