ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Governor Kathy Hochul announced the availability of $8.5 million through the Food and Fiber Processing Grant Program on Tuesday. Providing further expansion of food and animal fiber processing and capacity in the state.
The program creates funding for NYS, pushing the expansion of agricultural operations to increase food and animal fiber processing. Specifically, it aims to support locally produced products in the marketplace, helping to meet state demands for local food sourcing initiatives.
The project prioritizes expanding the processing of fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, and plant and animal fibers.
Funding is also available for the construction and renovation of food processing facilities, among other aspects.
This comes from the Farm and Food Growth Fund (FFGF) through the state.
“This new funding opportunity will empower our farmers and processors to innovate, grow, and build resilient, sustainable communities across the state. Together, we are cultivating opportunity and ensuring that New York remains an agricultural leader for generations to come,” Governor Hochul said.
