Dozens of Chicago-area schools will once again be closed or remote learning Monday as a cold weather advisory with wind chills as low as -25 degrees continues.

The closures come after hundreds of schools, including Chicago Public Schools, closed Friday due to extreme cold. According to an announcement, the district was scheduled to be open for instruction Monday.

“Based on the forecast, CPS schools and offices will be open on Monday, January 26,” CPS’ announcement said. “We are working to ensure every school is safe, warm, and dry, and that meal service is ready for students. CTA will operate with regular hours and service. Below are some safety reminders for cold weather.”

Schools that shifted to E-learning Monday include District 103 in Lyons, District 111 in Burbank, District 124 in Evergreen Park and Joliet District 86, according to the Emergency Closing Center.

Other schools were closed entirely, including District 194 in Steger, District 108 in Willow Springs, Kankakee Community College and numerous daycare centers.
