Tennessee has received a commitment from a defensive back who will enter his second stint in the SEC.
Tevis Metcalf, who was on Michigan’s roster in 2025, has pledged to the Vols, he revealed to On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Saturday. Metcalf will have three years of eligibility remaining.
This commitment is certainly a family affair for Metcalf, whose older brother, TJ, signed with Tennessee out of the portal on Tuesday.
TJ Metcalf’s career began at Arkansas in 2023, with Tevis joining him there in 2024. After the younger Metcalf appeared in all 12 games for the Razorbacks as a true freshman, he and his brother both joined Michigan out of the portal in 2024. He took 2025 as a redshirt season after playing in just three games.
Now, he’ll join TJ once more at Tennessee.
While football runs deep in the Metcalf family, it goes beyond the two brothers. Tevis and TJ’s cousin is DK Metcalf, who just wrapped up his first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers after six seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Their uncle, Terrence Metcalf, played eight seasons in the NFL.
Tevis Metcalf’s commitment makes him the 14th player the Vols have picked up out of the transfer portal. Tennessee has portal commitments from three other defensive backfield players outside of the Metcalf brothers: Dejuan Lane (Penn State), Qua Moss (Kansas State), and Kayin Lee (Auburn).
