ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We have a Yellow Alert up for tomorrow in anticipation of a snowstorm. Today however we are in good shape with highs in the low 40s amid cloudy skies. Rain showers are likely starting this evening.
A low pressure system will pass through our area tomorrow, bringing widespread snow combined with some lake enhancement. There is still a little uncertainty on the snowfall amounts but we are increasingly confident that everyone will see at least 2-4″, and areas near the lakeshore could get up to a foot. Rain will change over to snow tonight, and as the center of the low passes by there will be a break in the snow south of the Thruway, but continuing north of it. Be prepared for snowy roads and reduced visibility during both commutes tomorrow. Snow should come to an end Friday morning. Also make sure to check back in for updates as there is still a little time for snow forecasts to change.
Alongside the snow comes bitterly cold temperatures. We expect temperatures to dip into the mid to upper teens tomorrow with wind chill values in the negatives. Limit your time outside, and bundle up!
Friday is similarly cold, with snow showers returning in the evening. The weekend will feature more snow showers at times, with highs in the low 30s and low 20s on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The colder than normal temperature trend is likely to continue over the next week and possibly all the way through the rest of the month.
