It was fun while it lasted. I’ve snapped back to reality, ope, there goes Chicago’s five-game win streak. Last night, in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bulls slipped back under .500, and the way the game ended left a bitter taste. But hey, we’re back at it on Monday.
Let’s talk Bulls basketball.
The Bulls lost 112–103 on the second night of a back-to-back, falling to a Milwaukee Bucks team that welcomed back its star, Giannis Antetokounmpo, for the first time since December 3. The former MVP had dominated the headlines with trade rumors, quietly covering up his team’s struggles to win. In his return, Giannis dropped 29 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and, of course, found himself at the center of one controversial play. Giannis Antetokounmpo Ends Chicago’s Win Streak: Bucks 112, Bulls 103 – December 27, 2025 With just five seconds left in the game, the Bucks were up seven and the Bulls had seemingly given up, just waiting for the clock to run out. The Greek Freak, in that moment, tossed in a windmill dunk on the other end, adding insult to injury. It also broke one of the NBA’s “unwritten rules.” Violating that rule isn’t illegal, but it’s seen as disrespectful. Antetokounmpo clearly didn’t care.Benches clear at the end of regulation ? pic.twitter.com/Q0S2SXT4Zr
— Bulls on CHSN (@CHSN_Bulls) December 28, 2025 The Bulls did not appreciate it and they let Giannis know, both on the court and after the game. “He shouldn’t have dunked the ball,” Coby White said. “It’s disrespectful to the game. I said, ‘Bro, you’re better than that. The game is over with. Why you gotta do that? It’s a respect thing.’”Coby White talking disrespectful Giannis dunk and postgame scuffle because of it. pic.twitter.com/GROGCjAVLE
— Joe Cowley (@JCowleyHoops) December 28, 2025 Nikola Vučević clearly felt some type of way about it too, stepping in as the first player to confront Giannis on the court. After the game, Vučević didn’t hesitate to go a little below the belt, “I assume Giannis was mad about that report that came out that the Bulls wouldn’t trade for him and he wanted to prove a point.” Not that I think playing for the Bulls in 2025 is some great prize or privilege, but credit to Nikola for standing his ground and defending his team.Vooch on the post-game scuffle: "I'm assuming Giannis was mad about that report that came out the Bulls didn't want to trade for him." pic.twitter.com/D1hfj52OM0
— Will Gottlieb (@Will_Gottlieb) December 28, 2025 At the same time, Giannis doubled down on his actions after the game. “We’re 11th in the East,” Antetokounmpo said. “We’re not the champs. Why should we play the clock out, have respect and fair play? We’re fighting for our lives right now.”Giannis on his windmill dunk: "We're 11th in the East… Got to keep finding an identity. If that's to get a little bit scrappy at the end, so be it. We're not the champs. Why should we play the clock out, have respect and fair play? We're fighting for our lives right now."
— Jamal Collier (@JamalCollier) December 28, 2025 Now, I’m someone who’s all for playing until the final buzzer and not being all buddy-buddy with teams you’re competing against. But I also spent last year in Indianapolis watching the Indiana Pacers own the Bucks, and Giannis getting mad about everything the Pacers did that he felt disrespected him and his team. I just think it’s fair to dish it out only if you’re willing to take it. That’s all. Otherwise, I love the competitiveness. © Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images Zooming out of the drama, the disappointing result for Chicago may have slowed their climb up the standings, but it did slightly improve their odds in the NBA Draft lottery. A lot of Bulls fans weren’t exactly enjoying the winning streak anyway, because there’s a clear glass ceiling to this team’s success. Expiring contracts and limited young talent are just a couple of the roster problems. Those fans were probably the happiest last night, not only because of the loss, but also because news broke that the Bulls are expected to be the biggest sellers in the Eastern Conference.I would expect a couple of moves from Chicago. It appears as if they’re going to be the biggest sellers in the East. t.co/yrDyIqW2Si
— Brett Siegel (@BrettSiegelNBA) December 27, 2025 Chicago had won its matchup on Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers, against another former MVP, Joel Embiid. He put up a game-high 31 points in the losing effort. However, NBA Twitter later noticed something hilarious — Embiid appeared to be playing with no socks (or maybe no-show socks), something you definitely don’t see every day.Did Embiid play against the Bulls with no socks? ?Joel Embiid hit the court in his signature SKX JE1 scoring 31 points against the Bulls. This might be the move for him moving forward ? pic.twitter.com/lDxflMgKRc
— Nice Kicks (@nicekicks) December 27, 2025 We’re firmly in the world of bizarre news, and here’s another one: Bulls two-way player Trentyn Flowers, who has appeared in just eight NBA games over two seasons, is now heavily rumored to be heading back to college. I’ve seen former NBA players skip college entirely, but I can’t remember one actually wanting to return.Chicago Bulls two-way player Trentyn Flowers is drawing interest from many college programs, a source told @On3sports.The 6-foot-8 wing was a top-25 recruit in the 2023 class who initially committed to Louisville before opting for a pro career. — Joe Tipton (@JoeTipton) December 28, 2025 This all comes on the heels of James Nnaji, the former 31st pick, who was drafted but never signed, technically making him a draft-and-stash player. That loophole let him commit to Baylor and sent shockwaves through the college basketball world. The difference here? Nnaji never logged an NBA game. Flowers did. And that’s what makes this story feel so wild.NEWS: 7-foot center James Nnaji, the No. 31 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, has committed to Baylor, source told @On3sports. The 21-year-old big man will play the second half of the season and has been granted four years of eligibility by the NCAA. t.co/3Qddu13Lyi pic.twitter.com/R0D9Z1s1sC
