ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Christmas is over, but some services, facilities, and government offices are still closed on Friday. Here’s what to know and when their schedule will return to normal.

Government offices: Rochester City Hall, the Loretta C. Scott Center for Human Services, neighborhood service centers, and all other city office buildings are still closed on Friday. For Monroe County office buildings, including the county clerk’s office, the day after Christmas isn’t considered a holiday.

Monroe County libraries: Many libraries in Monroe County are back open on Friday for their regular hours. However, several will remain closed until Saturday. That includes the Central Library of Rochester on South Avenue. See the schedule for each local library here.

R-Centers: All city R-Centers will be closed on Friday and will resume their special winter break hours on Monday. For children on break, some R-Centers are hosting camps with games, sports, and creative activities. You can learn more here.

Hours for the Trenton and Pamela Jackson R-Center, Frederick Douglass R-Center, Adams Street R-Center, and Edgerton R-Center:

Open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and the day after New Year’s (Friday). Closed on New Year’s Day (Thursday). Open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Wednesday). Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Hours for Avenue D R-Center, Hope R-Center, Carter Street R-Center, Hope R-Center, Carter Street R-Center, Willie Walker Lightfoot R-Center, and David Gantt R-Center:

Open from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and the day after New Year’s (Friday). Closed on New Year’s Day (Thursday). Open from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Wednesday). A snack and lunch will be served.

Refuse and recycling: Refuse and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week because there was no collection on Christmas Day.

Rochester Animal Services: Rochester Animal Services is still closed on Friday. In addition, the Community Pet Food Pantry will be closed on Friday and will host its next event on Friday, Jan. 9. 

Roc Holiday Village: Roc Holiday Village is back open on Friday. The winter village at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park runs through Sunday and there are still plenty of activities. What’s back open: Grocery stores, malls, and most retailers have reopened on Friday. In addition, the 311 Call Center is back open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. to help with city services and other non-emergencies. The Rochester Public Market is back on Saturday for its regular hours.
