Pete Crow-Armstrong Was ROBBED of a TRULY IMPORTANT Crown by Shohei Ohtani ...Middle East

Look, I can be as bitter as I like about how Shohei Ohtani wound up with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but I cannot deny that he is singular. There is no one in baseball like him, and we are all pretty privilege to be witness to one of the greatest athletes of all-time. You generally don’t beat Shohei Ohtani, you just observe the ride.

HOWEVER! Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong did have a chance to beat Shohei Ohtani at something, and I am here to declare that he was ROBBED of that important victory by a BIASED, SHAM evaluation process.

I refer, of course, to MLB’s countdown of the best bat flips of the season.

When I saw that MLB was doing it, I immediately knew PCA was going to feature high on the list for his dramatic-and-freaking-awesome bat flip in Cincinnati back in May. You remember it. I know you do. It was when the Cubs were coming back against the Reds, and PCA, having already homered once in the game, came up with the Cubs down two and the bases loaded.

Then, BOOM:

It was a truly incredible moment. Easily one of my favorites from the season, and it really brought into focus just how much of a star Pete Crow-Armstrong could be.

What wasn’t immediately apparent until the replays, though, was how over-the-top PCA’s reaction was, with a turn and chuck and scream that has stuck with all of us ever since:

omg babe the second angle of the PCA grand slam just dropped!!!! pic.twitter.com/HYhkyKTqkm

Yeah. That was so awesome. I am smiling just reminiscing. Talk about announcing yourself to a larger and larger baseball audience, eh?

So, anyway, like I said. When MLB was counting down bat flips, I knew this Pete Crow-Armstrong moment was going to be high on the list. And when it hadn’t shown up until MLB got into the top five, I figured there was a chance that PCA would take the crown.

But that’s when he got robbed:

A CRIME HAS BEEN COMMITTED!

Look, I get that the Shohei one was very smooth and cool, also in a very big comeback moment against a division rival on the road. But COME ON. How can you watch those two moments and think the Shohei Ohtani flip was better than Pete Crow-Armstrong’s explosive chuck?

There’s really only one way to avenge this travesty. Pete Crow-Armstrong is going to have to stick around in the MVP race longer in 2026 than he did in 2025, and then topple Shohei Ohtani at the end of the year. There’s just no way around it.
