Yet another standout quarterback is set to hit the transfer portal, as TCU’s Josh Hoover announced his plans to move on from the Horned Frogs after 4 seasons.
“I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to represent TCU for an incredible 4 years,” Hoover said Thursday via Instagram. “It has been a dream to be able to play and graduate from this university and I will forever be grateful for that.
“I’ve prayed about this and decided that I will be entering the transfer portal.”
The redshirt junior turned in back-to-back 3,000-yard seasons at TCU, throwing for 3,949 yards and 27 touchdowns against 11 interceptions in 2024 and recording 3,472 passing yards and 29 touchdowns against 13 picks in 2025.
Hoover leaves Fort Worth having piled up 9,629 yards and 71 touchdowns against 33 interceptions with a 65.2% completion rate. He started at TCU since the middle of the 2023 season, and his 2024 passing yards broke the school’s single-season record. Hoover will not play in the Alamo Bowl when the Horned Frogs (8-4) take on No. 16 USC (9-3) on Dec. 30 (9 pm ET, ESPN).
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Hoover will be a coveted portal prospect who could have the most career passing yards of any quarterback in the portal when it opens on Jan. 2. He will have 1 season of eligibility remaining next season.
