The 2025 Italian Short Course Championships ended in Riccione with swimmers putting up solid performances to conclude their year of racing.

23-year-old Federica Toma logged a new lifetime best en route to topping the women’s 200m backstroke podium.

The Carabinieri Sports Center athlete stopped the clock at 2:05.58 to score the first mark of her career under the 2:06 barrier.

Entering these championships, Toma’s career-swiftest performance checked in at the 2:06.36 established at last year’s Nico Sapio Trophy.

Tonight, Francesca Romano Furfaro also posted a lifetime best en route to silver.

Representing GS Fiamme Oro, Furfaro unleashed a time of 2:05.86 to demolish her previous PB of 2:07.18 from over a year ago.

Benedetta Scalise rounded out the podium in 2:06.52.
