Welcome to the first session of the 2025 Winter Juniors — East Championships! The best junior swimmers in the United States are gathered at two meets this weekend with the East Championships swimming in Indianapolis, Indiana and the West Championships swimming in Austin, Texas.
The action in Indiana kicks off about an hour earlier than it will in Austin, which means all week East swimmers will be setting the standard for racing. We have seen NAG records broken at the East meet only to fall a few hours later at the West meet, so nothing is guaranteed.
Every night, SwimSwam will publish a “combined results” article where you can see the top eight across both meets, so don’t worry about keeping up with both at the same time.
Today’s action actually started with the 1000 freestyles, which we will recap below.
The relay session will likely feature a few big name swimmers including Laker Swim Club’s Rylee Erisman, who will be racing her last Winter Juniors after she reclassified to the class of 2026 last month.
Laker’s 200 medley relay is seeded 4th individually and their 800 freestyle relay is seeded first in the event. Both relays will race in the 2nd girls heat and Erisman could appear on one, both, or neither.
Audrey Derivaux, from the Jersey Wahoos, and Charlotte Crush, from Lakeside, are also major names to watch on the girl’s side as they hunt NAG records all weekend, starting with tonight.
The boys relays will likely see Baylor Stanton from Gwinnett Aquatics swim his first race of the meet as he chases a 2nd straight High Point Award.
Whenever boys relays are in the water, we also need to be aware of the Bolles School Sharks, and their propensity to NAG Record Breaking swims.
