As the Bulls continue into their stretch of off days, reports coming from the Chicago Bulls aren’t necessarily encouraging. Can they get things turned around after their time off? If not, things could get even uglier and in a hurry.
Bulls Bullets
Shortly after Bullets was published yesterday, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times dropped some really fun Chicago Bulls news. Apparently, according to one of his sources, amidst the brutal losing streak, the Bulls locker room is starting to fracture, and Coby White is the main cog trying to hold everyone together. Here’s a blurb from Cowley’s article. The losing is taking a toll on the Bulls locker room, and the group is starting to splinter, according to a source. Coby White, and several others, are trying to put the fires out, but no easy task these days.Read it … t.co/2FYG9hBrTJ
— Joe Cowley (@JCowleyHoops) December 8, 2025 “A source told the Sun-Times on Monday that it’s a crucial time for the team because it’s starting to splinter. Guard Coby White, the longest-tenured Bull, has been one of the main figures trying to put out fires and limit finger-pointing while still holding teammates accountable, the source said.” Cowley also said that White gave an impromptu, passionate speech to the team about this topic last week, as well. Losing stinks. Everyone hates it, and it can absolutely fracture a locker room if it goes on long enough. I think the writing has been on the wall with this stuff since the Bulls barely escaped the Wizards at home a few weeks ago with a one-point win. After the win, Nikola Vucevic gave a very angry postgame interview and brushed along some of his teammates trying to celebrate. Vooch’s logic was fine; the win wasn’t necessarily achieved with a sustainable playing style or the team playing with good habits; rather, they got lucky against a very bad team. Chicago Bulls – © Patrick Gorski – Imagn Images While on the surface, Vooch might have been right, I think it’s a fair guess that this is where the splinter started. The seven-game losing streak started after that win. And, I’m all for veterans like Nikola Vucevic preaching good habits and winning culture, but they also have to back that up, too. I think it’s also fair to ask if Vooch is practicing what he preaches, as well. The Bulls were outrebounded 51-38 by Golden State on Sunday. The Warriors also had 23 second-chance points. Part of that blame should fall on the shoulders of the team’s starting center and top rebounder. Of course, I’m not saying this losing streak is all Nikola Vucevic’s fault. It’s everyone’s fault. No one is really playing up to the right standard consistently enough. Leave it to a veteran like Jevon Carter to break things down. At practice yesterday, he met with the media and essentially said everyone – veterans and youngsters – isn’t paying enough attention to detail, and those little details are adding up.Jevon Carter on why a team made up of “youth with experience” and a couple older guys haven’t been able to form good habits. He pointed to the details, giving an example that plagues the Bulls’ offense. On their margin of error: “more times than not, we start off already down… pic.twitter.com/BaxQwrsUeH
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) December 8, 2025 I think Jevon Carter was pretty spot on in what he said. The Bulls aren’t paying attention to detail. A coach of mine always used to say, “Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.” The Bulls aren’t taking care of the little things. They’re not doing the small things right. Their timing is off. They’re not grinding for rebounds or loose balls. The offense has gone from being one based around ball movement to a lot more iso ball. And all of these things were things that they did well during their 6-1 start to the campaign. Josh Giddey echoed Carter’s sentiment:“Everybody in this locker room gets along,” Giddey said. “We don’t have anybody that butts heads. We all love each other, we all care about each other. But there’s multiple ways to show that. On the floor, we’re not showing that enough.” t.co/epjI86mEhI pic.twitter.com/ugoOlEPlGq
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) December 8, 2025 Giddey also said after the loss, “The memo is out on us. Crash the boards. Get back in transition. And you can stop the Bulls.” And he’s right. Now, Giddey needs to improve on these things, too, and it’s not like he said he was perfect. But I think what he and Carter were saying was spot on. Get back to the basics. Hustle for rebounds and on defense. Get to loose balls. Move the ball better on offense. Hopefully, the team has also gotten the memo. I guess we’ll see on Friday. If this losing streak didn’t feel bad enough, I’m here to tell you it gets worse! While the Bulls’ project of a first-round pick in Noa Essengue is out for the year following shoulder surgery, the big man they were linked to all offseason but passed on, Derik Queen, continued his special rookie season thus far with a 33/10/10 triple-double on Monday night against the Spurs.DERIK QUEEN: 33p, 10r, 10a, 4b ?The FIRST ROOKIE since blocks began being tracked in 1973-74 to record a 30-point triple-double with 4 blocks! pic.twitter.com/VRk0dvbcqk
