2025 EUROPEAN SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
December 2-7, 2025 Prelims at 10am local (4am ET)/Finals at 7pm local (1pm ET) Lublin, Poland SCM (25 meters) Meet Central Psych Sheets Day 1 Prelims Recap Live Results LivestreamThe first morning of 2025 Short Course Euros treated the Spaniards well, and particularly Carles Coll. The 24-year-old World Champion left the session with two new national records: the men’s 100 breaststroke and the men’s 4×50 freestyle relay. Both former marks both belonged to him.
100 Breast
First, Coll showed he’s capable of keeping up with an increasingly fast European breaststroke field. In the first round of 100 breaststrokes, the Tarragona native hit 56.28 to shave .4 off his own national record. His previous record stood at 56.67 from last year’s Short Course World Championships, the same meet in which he claimed the 200 breaststroke gold medal. See the split difference below.

Coll heads into the semis sitting in 3rd place with two chances to lower the mark even further. Eudald Tarrats, who won the Spanish national title last month in Coll’s absence, made it on to the next round as well.
4×50 Free Relay
Coll was not done with record-setting performances after his 100 breast. He came back at the end of the session to play a key role in Spain’s new 1:24.65 4×50 free relay national record. Coll produced the fastest rolling start for his country, checking in at 20.90. The team’s middle legs, Coll and Sergio de Celis, were members of the previous Spanish mark from the 2022 World Championships in Melbourne (1:24.83). Also of note, junior sprint star Luca Hoek came within a tenth of the country’s supersuited 50 free NR on his 21.35 lead-off. Hoek could challenge Rafael Muñoz’ 21.26 benchmark from 2009 tonight or in the individual 50.
