2025 Minnesota State High School League Girls A State Championships
Nov. 13-15 Minneapolis, Minnesota SCY (25 yards) ResultsThe Monticello Magic lived up to its nickname at the Minnesota State High School League Girls A State Championships.
Monticello was indeed magic, improving on a third-place finish from last year and winning its first state title in school history, outlasting runner-up Visitation by 17 points.
“It was such a fun three days watching these ladies do what they do best — race and compete,” head coach Stacy Biegler said to the Monticello Times. “This was a goal of ours for the last three years and it finally all came together. It took all the girls to complete our goal of becoming state champions.”
Individually, Monticello was led by junior Adalynn Biegler, who has committed to Tennessee.
Biegler first won the 200 free in a personal best time of 1:46.93, a Class A and state meet record.
Later, Biegler won the 100 fly in a personal best 53.48. Her two titles this year followed up wins last year in the 50 free and 100 free.
Biegler also swam leadoff for Monticello’s winning teams in the 200 free and 400 free relays.
In the 200 free relay, Biegler swam a split of 22.24 to help Monticello win with a time of 1:34.55. Other team members were Scarlet Urick (24.49), Elsie Farnsworth (24.14) and Ella Eagle (23.68).
In the 400 free relay, the same quartet of Biegler (49.17), Urick (54.66), Farnsworth (53.08) and Eagle (52.17) won in a time of 3:29.08.
The 200 medley relay was won by the Mounds Park team of Alaina Biebl (26.97), Bella Muyres (30.69), Julia Anderson (25.37) and Josie MacDonald 24.67 won in a time of 1:47.40.
Biebl, a senior, also repeated as champion in the 100 back with a time of 56.73.
Other individual winners were:
Visitation junior Merry Miller won the 200 IM in a personal best time of 2:05.94, making a big leap after a 7th-place finish last year. Como Park senior Aleia Lueck captured the 50 free in a personal best time of 23.62. She was 4th in the event last year. Chloe Aarness of Hastings won the 1-meter diving event with 465.40 points. Apollo senior Izzy Westling improved on a 3rd-place finish last year in the 100 free, winning it this year in 52.00. Emma Rudowsky, a senior from Benilde-Saint Margarets who has committed to Boston University, took the 500 free in a time of 5:00.84. Sauk Rapid-Rice sophomore Kate Walz won the 100 breast in a personal best time of 1:03.90.Team Standings — Top 5
