DANSVILLE, N.Y. — Congresswoman Claudia Tenney says her office is in touch with federal and Livingston County officials about the future of the Dansville airport.
In a News10NBC investigation, large cranes were shown set up right in front of the runway, placed by LMC, a contracting business next door to the airport. LMC is refusing to remove the cranes. Recently, a pilot took footage from above as he maneuvered around the cranes in order to land.
Last night, North Dansville Town Supervisor Gregory Horr said they are sending letters to elected officials asking if they would support efforts to close the airport. However, he says it has nothing to do with the stalemate with LMC, which is one of the town’s largest employers. Instead, Horr says the airport has become a drain on the budget.
Gregory Horr, North Dansville Town Supervisor: “It’s going to be worse once we start getting into some of the capital needs of the airport. So currently, without raising taxes pretty substantially, we wouldn’t be able to afford it.”
In a statement to News10NBC, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney said, “My office has been in contact with local officials regarding the situation in North Dansville. We will continue to assist and help liaise with the county and the appropriate federal agencies to ensure safety concerns are properly addressed. This remains a local matter, and I respect the role of the county and its leaders in determining the best path forward for their community.”
