Cardinals snap losing skid behind arm of Jacoby Brissett, stellar defense ...Middle East

Sport by : (Arizona sports) -

Third time really was the charm for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

Throwing the rock all over Jerry World, Brissett was critical in Arizona’s 27-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys (3-5-1) on Monday Night Football.

Completing 70% of his throws for 261 yards and two touchdowns, Brissett once again had the offense in a better place than it had been across the first five weeks of the season. He added a rushing TD, too.

The veteran signal caller marks the first Cardinals quarterback to throw for at least 200 yards and two touchdowns in three straight games since Carson Palmer did so in 2015.

He stood in the pocket and delivered time and time again. Brissett also made it his mission to get wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. involved from the jump.

The end result speaks for itself, with Harrison setting a new career high for catches in a single game with seven to go along with 96 yards and a touchdown.

The wide receiver’s juke on Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland before snagging his touchdown grab was just icing on the cake.

It wasn’t just the connection between Brissett and Harrison that was working in Dallas, either.

Wide receiver Michael Wilson set a new season high in receiving yards with 61.

Tight end Trey McBride also found the end zone for his fourth touchdown in three games. He’s up to five scores on the season, four of which coming from Brissett.

Arizona (3-5) also got after it on the ground, averaging 4.4 yards per carry on its way to 120 yards and a touchdown on 27 rushing attempts.

The successes through the air and on the ground helped lead the team to its fourth straight game of at least 330 yards of offense.

Cardinals defense hangs tough

Despite the Cowboys sporting one of the best offenses in the league behind 30.8 points and 384.1 total yards, it looked anything but on Monday night.

Leading the way for Arizona was pass rusher Josh Sweat, who added a pair of sacks on the evening to go along with five QB hits.

Rookie Walter Nolen III also had an impactful NFL debut behind a fourth-quarter sack, two tackles for loss and pass defensed.

The same goes for rookie Cody Simon, who had a huge forced fumble in the fourth quarter just as it looked like Dallas was going to add more points late.

The bookend of the night was Calais Campbell getting home for a late sack and rookie Denzel Burke securing the first interception for a Cardinals cornerback in 2025.

Of the most notable stats the Cardinals defense can hang their hat on is the one touchdown given up to the Cowboys offense.

Holding Dallas to just seven points scored in the fourth quarter is another massive win for a unit that has been unable to close games out for weeks.
