The City of Ukiah invites the community to join in celebrating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with a vibrant and family-friendly event honoring the lives of loved ones who have passed. The celebration will take place on Nov. 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Alex R. Thomas Plaza in Downtown Ukiah.
This annual event will share the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos through altars (ofrendas), music, dance, art, and food. Attendees can enjoy live performances, family-friendly activities, local artists, local booths from organizations and non-profits, and local food vendors.
Community members are encouraged to participate by bringing photos of their loved ones for the community altar.
Participants of all ages are encouraged to dress in their best La Catrina or El Catrín attire—complete with elegant costumes and creative makeup—for a chance to win prizes. There will be a lowrider and classic car showcase featuring decorated altars in the car trunks.
