Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor is in the middle of defining junior season in Tuscaloosa, as his dominance in both the Crimson Tide’s running game and in protection of quarterback Ty Simpson has him rocketing up NFL mock draft charts.
Proctor’s ascendance, coupled with weight loss to get him below 400 pounds, was profiled by the SEC Network earlier Saturday prior to the 6th-ranked Tide’s game against No. 11 Tennessee (7:30 pm, ABC).
Proctor told reporter Dave Ballou that he received counsel from former Tide teammates and NFL offensive linemen Tyler Booker and JC Latham after Alabama’s season-opening loss at Florida State that he wasn’t playing “fast enough.”

Proctor announced he was transferring from Alabama to Iowa in 2024 in the wake of coach Nick Saban’s retirement – but returned to the Tide in April of the same year for his sophomore season.
Proctor, who has gained additional nationwide attention with his brief cameos in the Crimson Tide offense this season, told Ballou that he was down to 356.2 pounds this week. Proctor caught a screen pass and almost scored against Georgia earlier this season, and then picked up a first down as a wildcat quarterback last week against Missouri.
Proctor and the Crimson Tide will face Tennessee on Saturday night in Week 8.
