Give Al Michaels a break.
After a repeated mistake on last week’s Thursday Night Football Amazon broadcast, the legendary 80-year-old broadcaster had another major slip-up during the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants game.

Michaels referenced a trade that sent Saquon Barkley to Philadelphia. The only problem? There was never a trade.
Barkley left New York in the 2024 offseason on his own accord, signing with the division-rival Eagles in free agency on a three-year, $37.75 million deal.
“Saquon Barkley drafted by the Giants second overall back in 2018,” Michaels said. “And then, the trade. The infamous deal. Off he went to Philadelphia of all places.”
His partner, Kirk Herbstreit, tried to smooth things over by interjecting, hoping to avoid further damage.
“And what a splash,” Herbstreit said. “It couldn’t have gone any better, right? He had a great year individually, and more importantly to him, the team won the Super Bowl.”
During those few seconds while Herbstreit was talking, a producer seemed to get in Michaels’ ear to let him know there was never any such trade. He quickly retracted the incorrect statement he had made moments earlier.
“I said a trade; he signed as a free agent,” Michaels corrected himself. “The Giants only wish they’d gotten something for him.”
In Michaels’ fashion, he even squeezed in a little jab at the G-Men.
However, fans seemed to have had enough of Michaels’ mistakes.
“Al Michaels needs to retire, man,” one fan posted on X.
“I think Al should be traded to a retirement home,” another fan chimed in.
“Is Al Michaels drunk?” one more fan asked.
