Grammy-award winning rapper Lil’ Wayne has issued a public apology to Bears quarterback Caleb Williams after his comments after Saturday’s epic come-from-behind win against the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.
No, seriously. This is a thing that happened today:
Ay Caleb don’t mind me bruh I’m just a cheesehead 4life & u just a killa & ya kilt us bad each time & 4 dat u get da praise gesture from me! ?? I luh da game & it’d b impossible 2make dat statement without acknowledging & admiring yo game king! U a beast but ya still a bear. ?
— Lil Wayne WEEZY F (@LilTunechi) January 14, 2026Clearly, Lil’ Wayne was a man in pain when he made his original comments after the Bears’ stunning win against the Packers. Then again, Wayne wasn’t alone in feeling salty after the game. After all, there is a 10-minute supercut of heartbroken Cheeseheads melting down during and after the defeat. But unlike a chunk of those cheesedoodles, Wayne made it known that the Bears quarterback has earned his respect.
And for what it’s worth I’m going to take Caleb WIlliams’ response as an acceptance of the apology:
Weez it’s all love. #BearDown tho t.co/5fpdIfL8Ub
— Caleb Williams (@CALEBcsw) January 14, 2026What a rough stretch for Lil’ Wayne. Since the start of the 2025 calendar year, Wayne has seen his protégé (Drake) get dragged on the Super Bowl halftime show by Kendrick Lamar, dropped a dud of an album (Tha Carter VI) that didn’t live up to lofty expectations, watched his Packers lose three of four games to the Bears, and got dunked on by Chicago’s quarterback. Tough breaks all around for Weezy F. Baby.
Caleb Williams and Lil’ Wayne bury the hatchet
Upon further review, I’ve gotta declare Caleb Williams the winner of this so-called beef with you know who. Not only did Chicago’s QB1 clap back with his original quote tweet, put together an S-tier troll job with highlights from the win on his Instagram using a Lil’ Wayne song, got an apology from the rapper, and is still playing in the postseason. That’s a win on multiple levels.

This is a storyline I would have never expected to write about, but I’m happy to write about it. Because in a hip-hop world where beef can last seemingly forever, it is refreshing to see the exchange above between Lil’ Wayne and Caleb Williams. The internet being used as a tool to build bridges and play peacemaker — who would’ve thunk it?
