Another Patrick Williams 0-For! KD Defends Rockets Fans, Silver Linings, and Other Bulls Bullets ...Middle East

How many times are we going to have to sit through a Patrick Williams disasterclass?

The Chicago Bulls just dropped a brutal one to the Houston Rockets last night — a game that was contested right down to the wire. Now they’re hopping on a plane back to Chicago to get ready for another matchup, this time against the Utah Jazz. I have absolutely no confidence in this being a “gimme,” but I do know one thing: it should be entertaining.

Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

A tough night led to a tough sleep, and I woke up to a not-so-tough realization: Patrick Williams is genuinely bad. There’s no redeeming factor here: no intangibles, no scoring, no winning, no impact. Just, nothing. In the loss to the Rockets, Williams put up a brutal stat line: zero points, 0-for-6 from the field, 0-for-5 from three, and a –3 plus/minus. Over the past month, he’s now had five games with a donut in the points column out of just 13 played.

— Bulls Central (@BullsCentralYT) January 14, 2026 He’s one of the tallest players on the Bulls, yet he plays like a tiny guard, settling for threes instead of using his size. Meanwhile, Dalen Terry, who’s been in and out of the rotation, played just eight minutes and 30 seconds and still honestly did more than Williams has in the last four losses the Bulls have piled up. I truly cannot understand how Patrick Williams is still in the rotation.

— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) January 14, 2026 There was a silver lining in this game. The Bulls grabbed more offensive rebounds than the best team in the NBA in that category, which is honestly impressive. They also forced more turnovers than they committed against a top-ten defense. I know the final score says the Rockets won, but Chicago genuinely held its own. If they can replicate that kind of effort, they can win more games.

The Bulls are severely outplaying the Rockets. Getting easy backcuts, loose balls, offensive rebounds and a few lucky bounces along the way

— Will Gottlieb (@Will_Gottlieb) January 14, 2026 Also, Tre Jones dropped a career-high 34 points in Houston, Texas, playing for the Chicago Bulls on January 13, 2026. That broke his previous career high of 30, which he scored in San Antonio, Texas, on January 13, 2024 — against the Chicago Bulls. And in both games? His team still lost. Wait, what?!

Tre’s team also LOST both those games ? #bulls #nba

— Joshua Miranda (@JoshAMiranda) January 14, 2026 Yeah, that was me ^^. Make sure you follow @JoshAMiranda and @BN_Bulls for more of these fun in-game updates and all things Bulls basketball. This game was genuinely entertaining, between Jones’ career night, the ridiculous number of lead changes and ties, and yet another Kevin Durant masterclass. KD finished with a team-high 28 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, reminding everyone (again) who he is. He was also active later on X, jumping to the defense of Rockets fans who weren’t in their seats at tip-off but showed up in force as the Bulls-Rockets thriller heated up.

We’re fashionably late down here champ. Check back round mid 2nd quarter and it’s a different picture. Been that way in Houston since I been in the League t.co/T2Ytt6AaHp

— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) January 14, 2026 The grind of the NBA schedule is officially here, with the Bulls playing the second night of a back-to-back tonight, hosting the Utah Jazz at the United Center. These two teams actually have pretty similar stories this season — with one massive difference. Both Chicago and Utah play fast, ranking 3rd and 4th in pace. Both have bottom-of-the-league defensive ratings. Both sit around league average on offense. And both have a young, fringe All-Star point guard to be excited about in Josh Giddey and Keyonte George. The difference? Utah actually has a direction it’s building toward. The Bulls don’t.

— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) January 14, 2026 In other NBA news, “Mr. Always Respectful” Giannis Antetokounmpo decided to boo his own fans. The Milwaukee Bucks were getting absolutely cooked by a Minnesota Timberwolves team missing both Anthony Edwards and Naz Reid, and the crowd in Milwaukee was letting them hear it. During one play in the third quarter, with the Bucks down 30, Giannis scored a tough and-one, then turned around and booed his own crowd. Let me repeat that: he was down 30.

— Fullcourtpass (@Fullcourtpass) January 14, 2026 And to make things even messier, the Anthony Davis trade saga somehow found a new level of drama. It was first reported that Davis would need finger surgery, a procedure that could have ended his season. That tweet, which was later deleted, by the way, prompted AD to fire back with: “Y’all better stop listening to all these lies on these apps!”

Yall better stop listening to all these lies on these apps!

— Anthony Davis (@AntDavis23) January 13, 2026 Not long after, Shams, who originally reported the surgery, put out an update saying Davis will not need surgery and will instead be re-evaluated in six weeks. He also added that the Mavericks are still actively trying to trade Davis, with “multiple interested teams” involved. This all clearly hand an involvement of his agent, Rich Paul, who the Mavericks reportedly “will not allow to “bully” them into trading Anthony Davis”. So yeah, that situation is about as clear as mud.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) January 13, 2026 Rich Paul found himself in more client-related drama after he went on a podcast and said that, if he were running the Lakers, he would trade Austin Reaves for Jaren Jackson Jr. Considering he’s not in that position, those comments rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Reaves’ agent even ended up having a conversation with Rich Paul about it. LeBron James made sure to stay as far away from that mess as possible, saying Rich is his “own man” and that whatever he says is not a “direct reflection” of how LeBron feels.
