Sam Pittman has been fired as head coach at Arkansas five games into his 6th season, a day after the Razorbacks fell 56-13 to Notre Dame.
Pittman was hired from Georgia, where he served as offensive line coach after three seasons in the same role in Fayetteville, after the 2019 season. It was his first head coaching role at the FBS level.
Despite a 3-7 mark in 2020, the Razorbacks snapped a 20-game SEC losing streak. In 2021, Arkansas finished 9-4 and in the top 25, leading to a contract extension for Pittman. The Razorbacks went 7-6 a year later before stumbling to a 4-8 record in 2023.
After Pittman was retained for the 2024 season, Arkansas saw a modest improvement, going 7-6. But after a 2-0 start to 2025, the Razorbacks blew an 18-point lead in a loss to Memphis. Following Saturday’s loss to the Fighting Irish, Pittman’s fate was sealed.
Sam Pittman‘s record at Arkansas was 32-34, including 14-29 in SEC play.
