Gaza City – SANA
Israeli airstrikes on Gaza killed 15 Palestinians and wounded others Sunday, as the humanitarian crisis deepened and the health system faced collapse, local media reported.
Warplanes targeted several neighborhoods in Gaza City — including Sabra, Zeitoun, Tel al-Hawa and areas near al-Ahly Hospital — killing 11 people, according to the Palestinian official news agency WAFA.
Four more Palestinians were killed in separate attacks on a vehicle in al-Zawaida and tents sheltering displaced families in Khan Younis and the Nuseirat camp, WAFA said.
Hospitals in southern Gaza were overwhelmed by the influx of residents fleeing northern areas. Sohaib al-Hommos, director of the Kuwaiti Hospital, warned the facility may be forced to shut outpatient clinics within days because of dwindling supplies, noting no aid has arrived since March.
“There are no safe zones in the south. Every area is overcrowded, dangerous and lacking basic services,” al-Hommos told WAFA.
Assem al-Nabeeh, a spokesperson for Gaza’s municipality, reported a severe shortage of essentials and a growing water crisis after 75% of central wells were destroyed.
Despite the risks, tens of thousands remain in Gaza City, with some families moving eastward out of desperation.
Local Palestinian sources said the Israeli government approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan in August to gradually reoccupy Gaza, beginning with Gaza City, which is home to about 1 million people.
