And while the show has never hit those heights again from a ratings perspective, longtime Survivor fans could argue that the show has a focus on it that hasn't existed in some time. After a couple of seasons arrived on Netflix during the pandemic, many people discovered the show for the first time, some of whom even ended up eventually becoming contestants. Celebrities have come out of the woodwork to talk about their love of the show. And, perhaps representing this recent fervor, Survivor had been nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards, the most the show has received since 2013.
For this year's slate of seasons, which includes Survivor 47 and 48, the show got a nod for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, only the second time it has been nominated in the category's 20+ year history. It received its now near-annual nomination for Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program. Jesse Tannenbaum and company received a first-ever Emmy nom for Outstanding Casting For A Reality Program for Survivor (the team has previously been nominated for The Amazing Race). And Jeff Probst received his second nomination in a row for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program, after winning four years straight from 2008 to 2011.

"Of course, it feels great. Because these are your peers, so it's very different from the support you get from your fans," he says. "I mean, the fans are what keep us on the air. There really are some amazing shows out there. So I never take it personally if we're not nominated. But of course, I take it personally when we are."
