BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Customers and employees at the Tops store in Brighton were evacuated Saturday night due to a bomb threat, according to Brighton Police Chief David Catholdi.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, a caller said bombs were set to detonate in the supermarket on South Clinton Avenue. Patrol units responded and notified the shift manager, who made the decision to evacuate. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Rochester Police K-9 units searched the store, while Brighton Police searched the surrounding exterior areas.

The building was ultimately cleared without incident, Catholdi said, adding that no suspects are in custody and police continue to investigate.
