Almost Hockey Time, Optimism, Kaiser? Kane, a Throwback Video, and Other Blackhawks Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

As we close the books on August, we’ve spent plenty of time this month discussing the good and the bad from perspectives of the current state of the Blackhawks from folks who aren’t wholly focused on the team.

The good news is the hockey media landscape appears to be universally agreed that the Blackhawks have done a good job stockpiling talent thus far in their rebuild. Paul Pidutti at Daily Faceoff’s projections for teams competing in five years puts the Blackhawks in the top four in the NHL in 2030. Elite Prospects’ updated their top 100 affiliate prospects list, and the Blackhawks had a league-high eight players named. Steven Ellis at Daily Faceoff had the Blackhawks’ pipeline — without established NHL players — at No. 3 in the league while ranking four Blackhawks prospects among the top-40 in the league. And, finally, Corey Pronman at The Athletic kept everyone who hasn’t turned 23 yet in his consideration set and has the Blackhawks’ pipeline ranked No. 2 in the league.

I know, I know. Parades are better than prospects. And we all want to get back to the parades. But it’s a good reminder as we wrap up a month with a lot of future talk around the hockey interwebs that the future appears to be in good hands, and it’s coming soon.

— Bleacher Nation Blackhawks (@BN_Blackhawks) August 28, 2025 Hey, September starts tomorrow. There should be Blackhawks back on the ice within the next couple weeks in Chicago. Usually there are some unofficial practices (without coaches) before training camp opens. The Hawks’ prospects will be on the ice in Chicago before heading to Minnesota for the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase games in a couple weekends as well. We’re almost there, folks. Still watching for anything Wyatt Kaiser related in the news feed. With that being said, I also expect there to be a little more chatter about player movement as we get closer to training camps and players begin reporting. Yes, the Blackhawks still need to finalize a deal with Kaiser. But there are other teams that are still looking to make moves/solve problems/fix perceived holes in their lineups. It’s been a very quiet last six weeks or so. That’s going to change quickly. And I think the Blackhawks could be involved with some of the teams looking to make moves before the regular season begins. Reminder: Blackhawks tickets go on sale Friday. I appreciate that the Blackhawks have started blowing dust off some fabulous old stuff in their video archives. Lots of current fans and folks chirping alot on social were probably still using training wheels in 2007 and 2008 when some of these commercials and bits were filmed, which makes me feel old. But these are still sooo good.
