He’s been really good all season. On Saturday, he led the Hawks defense group in ice time (24:40) with two blocked shots. He spent 4:52 on the penalty kill against the Bruins and was terrific. Scott Powers identified Levshunov as the Blackhawks’ biggest surprise in the first month of the regular season.Levshunov has arguably been the Blackhawks’ best defenseman this season. Some of that reflects on Bowen Byram not living up to expectations so far, but Levshunov has also exceeded them. Levshunov has been more assertive with and without the puck. He’s far from perfect, and the Blackhawks know they have to live with some of his erratic decisions, but he’s showing more and more signs of why the Blackhawks drafted him so early.
