As part of the "World" tribe, Australian Survivor brought in three living legends from the American version: Parvati Shallow, Cirie Fields, and Tony Vlachos. Making up nearly half the tribe, the three sensed they were immediately on the outs, locking in to work together. But when Parvati and Cirie formed a formidable women's alliance for the second time in their Survivor careers, it left Tony on the outside looking in again. "I was scared," the two-time winner said. "I never had any interactions with Parvati outside the game. Cirie, I never had interactions with them in the game. I never played with them."
"I know Parvati is not a fan of mine," Tony said. "From the Cagayan days, I remember Jeff Probst was doing an interview with her, 'Hey, Parvati, who do you think should win this game?' She said, 'I don't know. I like Woo. Woo's playing a great game.' And she just couldn't find herself to say, 'Tony's playing a great game.' So I know she's not a fan of mine, especially when we did Season 40. She sent the disadvantage to me. She didn't vote for me to win when I did a great game."
As entertaining as they may have been, Tony's antics certainly did not help his case. By the end of the occasion, he was voted out unanimously, with Parvati quipping in her voting confessional, "When you’re backed into a corner, kitty’s got claws."
When Tony claimed victory on Winners at War, cementing himself in many fans' minds as one of the greatest players of all time, he seemed hesitant to play again. In the years following his win in 2020, he retired from the police force and chose to stay out of the spotlight. So, in true Tony style, it was a sudden, yet happy shock to see him pop up on not one, but two all-star reality shows this year with The Traitors Season 3 and Australia V The World. "Now I know my wings are always clipped going into these games," he says. "I mean, I can't fly free like I used to. So I go into these games, I try my best to bring home as much money as I can. But at the same time, I want to give the entertainment value to the fans who love watching me. I'm never going to be a dud out there. I'm always gonna have fun."
